  • Residential Properties
  • Housing Estates
  • Tower Blocks
  • Garages
  • City Centre Premises

How Much Would A Demolition Service Cost?

How much a demolition service costs is dependent on a number of factors:

  • What is it being demolished?
  • Where is the demolition taking place?
  • How long is the demolition going to take?
  • How many people will this demolition require?
  • What equipment will be used during the demolition?
  • What building materials need to be used?

Once all the above information has been gathered, then we can provide an estimate on costing.

What Is The Process Of A Site Demolition?

Most site demolition projects will ordinarily follow the below process:

  1. Seal off and secure the site compound so that it is secure and inaccessible to members of the public.
  2. Carry out a pre-demolition survey of the site, including an asbestos survey, hazardous materials survey, structural survey and more.
  3. Ensure the building being demolished is no longer connected to any pipes, wires or cables. This includes water, electric or gas lines. This is known as the isolation of utilities.
  4. Carry out removal of any hazardous waste, whether that be asbestos or other potentially harmful materials or substances.
  5. Begin soft strip demolition. This involves all non-structural elements of the interior and exterior building, leaving nothing but the frame and structure.
  6. Begin superstructure demolition. This involves demolition of the structure and frame of a building. This is potentially the most dangerous part as it is where the large elements of a building will be demolished so must be done so carefully and with the right materials and equipment.
  7. Slab and foundation Demolition. This will see the slab and foundation of a building demolished also once the building itself has been demolished.
  8. Arisings of the demolition. This simply involves removing all smaller elements, debris and demolition waste from the demolition such as grass and hedge cuttings, leaves, small materials and litter.

Our Deconstruction Services

We offer specialised deconstruction services which involves the removal of materials and  components from a building however keeping them so that they can be reused or repurposed in the same or a different construction project. Our turnkey solutions approach allows us to carry out multiple services and focus on brownfield sites where we can provide clients with every stage of a demolition and deconstruction project.

How Much Would A Deconstruction Service Cost?

Just like a demolition service, a deconstruction service price would depend on the following factors:

  • What is it being constructed?
  • Where is the deconstruction taking place?
  • How long is the deconstruction going to take?
  • How many people will this deconstruction require?
  • What equipment will be used during the deconstruction?
  • What is happening with the materials and components after deconstruction?

Once all the above information has been gathered, then we can provide an estimate on costing.

What Is The Process Of A Site Deconstruction?

A deconstruction process will usually include the following steps:

  1. Secure the area surrounding the item that is being deconstructed.
  2. Carry out a pre-deconstruction risk assessment, identifying what risks will be involved, who may be at risk and how these risks can be mitigated.
  3.  Ensure the item being deconstructed is not interfering with any pipes, wires or cables. This includes water, electric or gas lines. This is known as the isolation of utilities.
  4. Carry out removal of any hazardous waste, whether that be asbestos or other potentially harmful materials or substances.
  5. Begin soft-strip deconstruction, removing any elements that are not part of the structure.
  6. Begin superstructure deconstruction, start taking apart the item carefully so that all components and parts remain intact and able to be reused or repurposed.
  7. Transport all reclaimed materials and components that have been deconstructed to wherever it is they are being reused.

SUSTAINABILITY

It has long been the policy of Thompsons of Prudhoe to recycle as much of the material that arises from our operations as possible. Not only is this more cost effective, but also helps our clients demonstrate and deliver a sustainable approach to their project delivery.

Our commitment to this can be demonstrated through our Integrated Management System, certified to ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 50001 (Energy)

Demolition vs Deconstruction

Deconstructing services are the dismantling of a building in a controlled manner that allows you to be able to reuse the components and materials later on in the project, or for an entirely new project. Whereas demolition is the destruction of a site in a manner that results in the components and materials being fit for no other purpose other than being recycled/disposed of.
