We are specialists with over 70+ years of experience in the industry and along with our company values DIGS (Development, Investment, Growth and Sustainability), are our traditional brand values that help to make up our core services and what we consistently deliver to our clients – no matter how big or small the project may be. So let’s take a look into what the Thompsons approach entails…
Your One Stop Shop – Thompsons Services:
From the get go, you have our word that we will look after your project every step of the way. We will begin the process with an initial consultation, where we will discuss the project requirements in full and ensure that we have a clear understanding of the client’s goals and objectives. We will ascertain the nature of the works including all known hazardous conditions and project complexities, to allow us to work collaboratively with the client to develop an execution strategy that ensures project success.
The next formality would be to remove any cases of asbestos from your site. In short, asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring fibrous minerals composed of thin, needle-like fibres. It used to be used in building materials – like cloth, paper, cement and plastic to make them stronger as pure asbestos acts as an effective insulator. However, it is incredibly dangerous if someone inhales or digests asbestos dust as the mineral fibres can become trapped in their body forever.
With over a decade of experience, as members of ARCA (Asbestos Removal Contractors’ Association) Thompsons Of Prudhoe are your go-to for any removal of asbestos, holding a full asbestos removal license issued by the Health & Safety Executive, demonstrating that our asbestos removal teams work to the highest possible standard within this highly regulated area of industry to safely and efficiently remove all traces. Upon completion of any asbestos removal project, we work with an independent and approved analytical company to provide the documentation and reoccupation certification required for our customers’ records.
Soft Strip –
The next step is to enter the building and remove any personal interiors, we call this the ‘Soft Strip’. For example, if we were entering an office space this could be anything from televisions fitted to the wall to whiteboards, desks, soft furnishings and so on. Products that would not require a heavy dismantling. This step is crucial before we begin the heavy work as it helps to strip the project down to an ‘empty shell’, ready for the demolition stage.
There are four methods of ensuring that we remove an existing building and/or structure in a safe and careful manner, abiding by industry Health and Safety regulations. These are what we call the four D’s; Demolition, Dismantling, Deconstruction and Decommissioning.
Demolition is the science and engineering in safely and efficiently, dismantling of a building and/or man-made structures, to build up a new project or site from scratch. Known in the industry as the Demolition, Dismantling, Deconstruction and/or Decommissioning of a building, it is essentially the safe and effective way of carrying out ‘demolition’ works. Some examples of demolition that your project may instruct our professionalism for are as follows:
- Total Demolition (complete demolition of a site or structure, for example a restructure job)
- Selective Demolition (where we remove specific parts of a building that may not be performing well or are causing repetitive costs)
- Interior Demolition (the demolition of specific parts inside of a building to expand the space for example removing partitions, walls and ceilings)
