Thompsons of Prudhoe planning application to Northumberland County Council was approved to extract sand and gravel from Anick Grange Haugh in December 2022. The lease to access the land was signed 1st October 2023, followed by the first bucket going in the ground in preparation to construct the compound area ready for the washing plant and offices.
Thompsons of Prudhoe pledge that the scheme will help meet the County’s need for vital construction materials – will be unobtrusive and bring significant biodiversity gains as well as creating jobs. The project will also improve access to the area and will widen the road near the site entrance with a new footpath and more room for cyclists
Sand, gravel, crushed stone and recycled concrete are the basic building blocks required in any construction project – including those promised as part of the Government’s levelling-up agenda.
