On Saturday 15th December, Thompsons of Prudhoe Directors, staff, their families, former employees and local people turned up at the Tyne Riverside Country Park to take part in the “Walking Home For Christmas” campaign in aid of the “Walking With The Wounded” Charity”. They were joined by Prudhoe South’s County Councillor Gordon Stewart and Walking With The Wounded’s Regional Operations’ Manager Tommy Watson – also a Prudhoe resident.
The weather was on the fresh side but it stayed dry and made for a great morning outdoors – ideal for clearing a few cobwebs from those who had been a the Thompsons’ Christmas Party the night before!
Between the online funding page, a collection bucket kept at Thompsons of Prudhoe’s Head Office for the last few weeks and buckets brought on the morning by Walking With The Wounded’s Regional Operations’ Manager Tommy Watson – which included donations from some generous souls taking part in the Prudhoe Park Run – the amount raised was £355 – 33. The Thompsons of Prudhoe Board of Directors had already agreed to at least match whatever was raised from the Walk and so a further £375 was donated by Thompsons of Prudhoe making a grand total of £730 raised for the wonderful charity.
Thompsons would like to thank everyone who donated and helped raise this fantastic amount. Anyone wishing to make a further donation can do so by following the link: http://www.walkinghomeforchristmas.com/users/william-thompson
